New Colwyn Bay manager Steve Evans says he is looking for his side to start building some momentum when the Seagulls travel to Llanidloes Town on Saturday. This will be his first league game in charge.
“I am looking for the players to put in a real shift , enjoy themselves and enjoy working hard for each other,” he said as he prepares for what is likely to be a stern test.
The Seagulls were 3-2 winners when the teams met at the 4 Crosses Arena in August, so have the chance of a league double, but Llanidloes, after suffering a dismal run of five defeats in six games earlier in the campaign, were beaten only once in their six games prior to the shutdown.
They also warmed up with a 2-0 win over Berriew in a friendly last weekend.
“Llanidloes will be a tough team to beat, but we will do our research on them and the players are up for the challenge,” said the manager. “We are all looking forward to getting back into league action again.
“The players have trained well and I was pleased with the performance in last weekend’s friendly at Caernarfon – although that was over-shadowed by the injury to Sam Downey.
“We will really miss him, but the club will do everything to support his rehab an hopefully we will see him and Tom Creamer back as soon as is possible.
“Apart from those two everyone else should be available for Saturday so we will go there with a strong squad.”
The manager said the club were hoping to bring in one or two additional players before the current transfer window close, but added: “The lads here have shown me they are up for the hard graft that lies ahead of us.
“There is a lot of hard work to do, putting the building blocks in place to produce the environment we need to get to where we want to be. It won’t happen overnight, but as I see it, myself, the players, the board and the fans are all in this together. It is an exciting time, and I’m looking forward to what is ahead of us.”
