Park safely outside local schools say West Conwy officers

The importance of parking safely when collecting children from school has been highlighted by North Wales Police during a recent visit to Colwyn Heights.

Prior to the Easter half term local officers attended Ysgol Pen Y Bryn after having concerns raised by the school in relation to persons parking, dropping off and collecting children.

"Whilst we are aware that this is not only a problem at Ysgol Pen Y Bryn but unfortunately most schools, can we take this time to remind parents to park safely and correctly whilst attending at these locations.

"Please can we stress the importance of parking correctly and safely, NOT  double parking, parking on double yellow lines or zig zags.

"When we attended it was evident of the problems that had been occurring and a couple of drivers had been spoken with and advised accordingly.

"It is worth noting that parking on Zigzags, whether they are on the side of a main road or outside of a school will land you points on your driving licence. There is no pick up or drop off time allowed.

"If we all work together and take a little more time planning our journeys, considering where is safe to park, we can help resolve these issues.

"We will continue to work with local schools, partner agencies and when available show a presence at these locations.

"Please don’t let our next social media release be a witness appeal for a road related incident outside of a school."
