Conwy County Borough Council’s residents eligible for the £150 Cost of Living Support Scheme Payment who don’t pay their Council Tax by direct debit should receive letters by early this week. This will enable them to collect cash from Post Office branches.

Over 12,000 households will get letters which they can take to any Post Office, along with identification detailed in the letter, to collect the payment in cash.

Cllr Mike Priestley, Cabinet Member for Finance, Revenue and Benefits, said, “We know how important this payment is to so many people during this cost of living crisis. Our teams have been working tremendously hard to put in place the processes to get the payment out to people as quickly as practicably possible. All eligible households in Conwy will now be able to benefit from this £150 by the end of September, the timescale set by the Welsh Government.”

The Cost of Living Payment is being made to residents with properties in Council Tax bands A-D and also to those who were receiving support through the Council Tax Reduction Scheme on 15 February 2022, regardless of the valuation band of the property.

Over 24,000 households who pay by direct debit received their payment direct into their bank accounts in May.
