A team of kind-hearted ladies from Conwy will be taking on a 21 mile walk for Tŷ Gobaith and Hope House Children's hospices.
Sporting members of Conwy Ladies Cricket Club will be hiking from Menai Bridge Cricket Club back to their home ground in Bodlondeb Park, Conwy on Saturday 2nd March.
Emma Leighton-Jones from the club, said: “We wanted to do something to benefit a local charity that means a great deal to people, and the hospice absolutely represents that.
“It was something that spoke to us, it’s so important that there is that ability for families that are suffering in that way to have the peaceful haven the hospice offers.”
Established in 2020 during the pandemic, the club played their first competitive game in 2021 and have grown from just six players to a squad of 22. They even compete in the North Wales Women’s and Girls League.
Emma said: “We’re a mix of nervous and excited but we’ll get there whether we’re walking on two feet or crawling on all fours.
“We have a mix of ages and abilities walking on the day and we’re only as strong as our weakest link so will go at a pace that suits everybody.
“We have a roving first aider who will be joining us at selected points along the way with plasters and all sorts of sugary snacks as well as first aiders on the walk.”
Led by team captain Llinos Hill, they will be setting off at 8.00am, and take the route along the North Wales Coast Path in their new kit and Tŷ Gobaith t-shirts as well as carrying a bucket for donations along the way.
The ladies will enjoy a well-deserved party at the clubhouse when they return.
