A 31 year old Colwyn Bay man has today been jailed for 11 years after pleading guilty to a charge of S18 Wounding with Intent, after an incident in February of this year.

Dale Anderson of Conway Road, Colwyn Bay was also ordered to pay £15,000 compensation to his victim and will not be eligible for release until at least two thirds of his sentence has been served.

Speaking after sentencing, DC Becca Southworth said: "This was a particularly vicious and violent attack, and I welcome today’s sentence.

"We take the issue of domestic violence very seriously and will thoroughly investigate all incidents of this nature. Today’s sentence sends a strong message that such attacks will not be tolerated, and we remain committed to ensuring that we make north Wales the safest place in the UK.

"We would encourage anyone who is a victim of domestic abuse to report it to us. Working with the Crown Prosecution Service, we will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice, as well as ensuring all victims are offered support from relevant partner organisations."
