One trail blazing Chief Constable is taking over from another to lead the British Association of Women in Policing (BAWP).

Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman, North Wales’ first woman Chief Constable, will take over from retiring Cumbria Chief Constable, Michelle Skeer, who was the first woman Chief Constable there when she was appointed in 2018.

Amanda said: “I am immensely proud to have been selected as the Chair of BAWP which does so much to support women of all ranks in policing across the UK.

“Michelle has done a fantastic job during what has been challenging times for policing. She has been a fantastic role model to women across policing and I’m looking forward to working with the Board to build on all her excellent work and leadership.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to Michelle for her work at BAWP and wish her all the very best for the future.”
