A young rising Golf Academy star has received another impressive accolade from his regional club.

13-year-old Charley Simpson, has been appointed Junior Captain at Rhos on Sea Golf Club for the second successive season ahead of a busy series of fixtures and competitions over the summer.

The Rydal Penrhos pupil has enjoyed a standout young career to date since joining Rydal Penrhos’ thriving sports scholarship programme, which has seen him selected to the Golf Union Wales’ prestigious player development programme.

He also played a significant role in the Rydal Penrhos team that won the Independent Schools’ Golf Association Northern Matchplay title alongside fellow pupils Reuben Bather and Adrian Lewis, ensuring qualification to the national finals later this year.

Another notable highlight for Charley was his participation in the British Par Three Championships at Nailcote Hall last summer, which saw him perform exceptionally well in a field of professionals.

Charley’s first year as Junior Captain of the picturesque course was a huge success, and he kicked-off his latest stint in the role at the club’s annual drive in event last month.
