The thorny issue of car parking in our town has risen to the surface again after non-essential shops have begun opening up again.

Speaking to the BBC, Chris Hughes local councillor for the Glyn Ward said the re-introduction of car parking charges whilst local businesses try to get back on their feet was "disappointing" and "a kick in the teeth for local businesses".

In the article which is published this morning, Councillor Hughes said that many local authorities have suspended the introduction of charges to help business communities already deeply impacted by the lockdown and Coronavirus but not Conwy.

In response Conwy County Borough Council said that there were many places to park for free including subsidised car parking and car parks set up by town councils throughout the locality.

Greg Robbins, who leads Environment and Transportation for the council said the authority had considered free parking zones but the issue of parking had not come up in conversations with local businesses.
