Residents in Colwyn Bay are voicing their concerns about promenade car parking, as it has been revealed that charges will soon rise.

Many people have been taking to social media to complain that plans to scrap a £1 charge for a one hour visit will make way to a minimum fee of £3.70 for 4 hours.

Dog walkers and residents seeking a quick visit to the promenade for a bite to eat over lunchtime say they are been disadvantaged at the time, they can least afford to pay out a quadruple increase.

The charges which are due to come in next month have been defended by the council who say that the change is to bring rates in line with other local authority car parks in North Wales.

Local residents are being told that they can apply for a £50 a year permit which will allow parking on the prom at any time at the cost a little over 16p per day.
