Bringing better pedestrian and cycle access to Conwy

A major investment in the footpath from Conwy to Parc Cae’r has begun as part of Conwy's ongoing investment to improve the county's Active Travel network.

The Active Travel Wales Act became law in November 2013, making it a legal requirement for local authorities to continuously improve facilities and routes for walkers and cyclists in settlements with a population of 2,000 or more within a built up area.

The work which will take place until March of next year, will see a new shared cycle/pedestrian route constructed between Conwy and Cae’r Seion Industrial Estate which will also include traffic calming features.

Parking will be restricted at certain times during the works and pedestrian access using the existing footpaths between Conwy and Parc Cae’r Seion will also be restricted.

It is hoped that the new shared cycle/pedestrian route will provide a safer, easier and more direct route into Conwy and will be a long lasting benefit to the community.
