On my show this week I had the pleasure to chat with Gwen Thirsk who is the Invest Local Officer for the Building Communities Trust.
Invest Local is a programme of funding and support for 13 communities across Wales. It’s an opportunity for everyone living in those communities to make their local area an even better place to live.
The 10-year programme builds on the strengths, skills and talents of individuals, groups and organisations in those communities to create positive and long-lasting change. Each area will have £1m to spend on local priorities over the 10 years.
Each community decides how they want their areas to develop, how the money will be used, which organisations they want to work with, and how decisions are made.
So how does this all fit into life in Colwyn Bay?
Well one of the areas of focus is the Glyn Ward in Colwyn Bay and after much development and consultation a group has been set up called Together for Colwyn Bay to identify the things that matter to the community and create plans to make positive things a reality.
