Young people to shape the future of volunteering in Wales

September 28, 2020 - 820 views

Young people of Wales make a positive contribution to their communities and have continued to do so during the pandemic.

As we all look ahead to the future and seek to promote and design volunteering that works in Wales, the involvement of young people is vital to lead to real change.

A special online session led by young volunteers is being planned on October 6th. This event is a space for young people aged 16-25 from across Wales to share their experiences and ideas and contribute to shaping the future of youth volunteering in Wales.

It will be a facilitated conversation, led by young volunteers in a partnership between WCVA, the #iwill campaign and Scouts Cymru.

The event will be looking to determine a better understanding of what young people in Wales believe voluntary organisations, decision-makers, funders and government should focus on as they look ahead to the future.

The insight gathered as part of the discussion will used to shape a paper on the future of youth volunteering which will be presented to the Third Sector Partnership Council.

Insight will also inform the development of youth volunteering related sessions delivered as part of the #iwillWeek Festival taking place from the 16th – 22nd November 2020.
