Vote for talented young artist in prestigious competition

July 14, 2020 - 938 views

A talented young artist at Rydal Penrhos needs your votes for a special award from a national online art exhibition.

Angus Holland, a Year 4 pupil at Rydal Penrhos Prep School, had a piece of his work selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show, which is now available to view.

Angus was in Year 3 when he drew the piece on display entitled Ducks on The Pond, and those viewing the exhibition can vote for their favourite piece in the People’s Choice Award.

If the Prep School pupil is fortunate to accumulate enough votes to emerge victorious, he will receive art materials, in addition to a leading artist visiting Rydal Penrhos for a special workshop.

There has been a surge in demand for Angus’ designs from across the globe in recent weeks, with his family having to set up an Etsy online shop to cope with the volume of orders.

During the first week of the shop’s launch, Angus sold 31 prints to buyers in Canada, Sweden, The Netherlands, United States of America, Australia, England and Wales.

Ducks on the Pond has been the most popular print that people have purchased so far, and his social media following on Instagram continues to go from strength-to-strength.

Angus, said: ““This piece was inspired by Colin See Payton. We were studying him in Year 3, and I really love his work.

“I like how he uses black ink, because I use black ink and fine liners. I also love the detail in his work.

“I used black ink on paper, and it took me about three weeks to complete.”
