Llandudno's Lifeboat Station is welcoming back visitors once again after a long break due to the Covid pandemic and say how much they are looking forward to getting back into full service in the weeks to come.

After 2 years of restrictions caused by the Covid pandemic, the RNLI is now gradually enabling public access to all of the country's lifeboat stations.

Llandudno Lifeboat Visits Team seized the opportunity by providing an information service in the outdoor area adjacent to its Shannon lifeboat.

The service proved to be popular with almost seven hundred people visiting over the Easter weekend and the Early May Bank Holiday.

Lifeboat Visits Officer Myfanwy Jones said “We have been delighted by the response to the access we are currently providing, and we look forward to gradually getting back to full use of our Visitor Centre as statutory restrictions and safety concerns permit.

“We are already able to take private tours of no more than eight people inside and we hope to extend this in due course.”

Myfanwy also wanted to report the sad passing of one of the original members of the Visits Team. “Our delight at being together again, has been tempered by the loss of our dear colleague and friend Ray Perkins.

“Ray was one of the first volunteers to join the team in 2017 and will be greatly missed by us all."
