Udi Akpan scored six minutes into added time with almost the last kick of the game to rescue a point for the Seagulls in a 1-1 draw away to Barry Town.

Barry had take the lead midway through the second half and looked like holding onto that, but Udi’s 13th goal of the campaign snatched victory away from them and lifted the Bay, who were without Alex Downes (injured) and Tom McCready (suspended), to within a point of Aberystwyth and Pontypridd who had their game postponed.

In a goalless first half Dan Atkins got the ball in the net from Cai Owen’s pass for what would have been his first goal for the club, only for the flag to go up for offside.

Matty Hill and Sam Downey both had efforts blocked, while at the other end Reece Trueman made a fine save to turn a Lee Lucas shot away for a corner and was off his line quickly to deny Michael George in a one on one.

Trueman made another big save eqarly in the seond hlaf from Ollie Hulbert, but was beaten on 63 minutes as Evan Press pulled the ball back for Lucas to score.

Reece saved again to deny Barry a second goal, while Jamie Cumming had a shot blocked.

With time running out Udo Akpan took a long ball over the top in his stride and buried his shot into the bottom corner to the delight of Bay’s travelling fans.
