Get into the spirit of St David’s Day early and embrace the elements by making a splash into the sea at Porth Eirias, Colwyn Bay.
St David’s Hospice are thrilled to host the second annual St David’s Dip on Saturday 25th February. This is a fun event that’s perfect for the family, whether you want to brave the waves or support the courageous ones running into the Irish Sea! The dip again coincides with the Wales vs England game in the Six Nations later that day, but don’t worry, you’ll be home in time for kick off!
Starting at 10.30am, entry is only £5 per person, and if you fundraise a minimum of £25, you will receive a limited-edition St David’s Hospice goat toy!
Last year over 160 supporters took a plunge in the sea at the first ever St David’s Dip, raising a fantastic £7,400. Many of the ‘swimmers’ were in fancy dress including mermaids, daffodils hats and tutus.
All proceeds from the fundraising event will be supporting the vital work of the Hospice for the local communities of Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd.
It costs approximately £6 million each year to provide outstanding care for the patients and their families. The majority of that total is raised by the local community as a very small percentage of funding is received from the Local Health board and Welsh Government.

“Last year people really got into the spirit and were dressed up in all sorts of Welsh themed costumes and other fancy dress. Personally, I can’t wait to see how creative this year’s participants will be!
“We’ve got some great prizes for the best dressed individual, best dressed team and a very special one this year, the best Welsh themed fancy dress!
