Santa Dash raises hospice funds in memory of Seren

December 01, 2021 - 940 views

For the first time ever hundreds of Santas will be seen running in Rhyl to support Hope House and TÅ· Gobaith Children’s Hospices.

The festive 5K will take place at the Events Arena in Rhyl on Sunday, December 12 and will be started by Iwan Williams, the brother of six-year-old Seren from Kimnel Bay who was cared for at TÅ· Gobaith.

Seren, who sadly died in January, had an extremely rare genetic disorder called POLR2A. There are only 16 cases ever recorded in the world and only two patients with the most severe of the spectrum and Seren was one of the two.

“TÅ· Gobaith is an outstanding charity that has helped all our family through the hardest of times by respite stays and sibling support during the six years of Seren’s life,” said mum Liz Williams.

“Iwan is so excited to be able to start the Santa Dash and do his bit to help make the event a success and raise money for the hospices.”

Fundraiser Vanessa Marubbi said: “We are delighted to be able to bring the first-ever Hope House and TÅ· Gobaith Santa Dash to Rhyl.

“It will be sure to be a great event, and we can’t wait to see you all dressed head to toe as everything from Santas to elves and reindeers.

“Places will be limited so make sure you sign up early to avoid missing out on this festive run.”

Town Mayor Cllr Diane King will be attending and judging the Best Dressed Competition, the winner will receive Breakfast with Santa for a family of four.
