Rydal Penrhos offering five free day places to local pupils

August 08, 2020 - 850 views

Rydal Penrhos School is offering five fully funded day places to prospective pupils.

Two year 9 places, 1 year 10 place and 2 Sixth Form places will be available to 'gifted' local pupils who would not ordinarily have the financial resources to attend the award winning school.

There is a set academic criteria to be attained by all applicants and a series of interviews and tests following shortlisting.

The school is a strong believer in the transformative nature of education and the importance of social mobility.

Rydal Penrhos has been committed to improving independent education access for children across the region in recent years, and this is an initiative that has been highly beneficial for local pupils and the school.

These free day places provide an excellent opportunity for a child, with smaller class sizes coming with an increased teacher focus to maximise their potential academically.

Another notable benefit is the wide range of extra-curricular options available at Rydal Penrhos, which broaden experiences and help pupils stretch themselves away from the classroom. The school is well known for its sporting achievements including golf, rugby and sailing.

Many also take full advantage of Rydal Penrhos’ Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme to secure Gold accolades and a trip to a royal ceremony.

Sixth Form members play a key role at community and charity events, in addition to supporting younger pupils in their Prefect and Peer Mentor roles.

The school says that this scheme enables them to expand their “school family” and better reflect and represent the local community.
