Colwyn Bay based RGC have announced that they are saying goodbye to the second of their stars players.

Hooker George Roberts becomes the second player to join Doncaster Knights this summer, following Billy McBryde across the border.

George, now 22, was brought up through Wrexham RFC, has been a part of the RGC pathway since 16, progressing through Coleg Llandrillo and RGC Age Grade into the Academy. His accelerated progress over the last two years, has seen him establish himself as the region's first choice hooker and claim the try of the season award.

RGC’s Josh Leach said: “George's departure brings a mix of feelings. As an Academy and for us as coaches it's great that we have helped another player gain a professional contract, but George has been a part of the environment for some time now and was a big part of the Senior team last season, so there is no doubt he will be missed.

"We wish George all the best with his move to England and we are in no doubt he will go on to make his mark for Doncaster Knights.

"As in all cases, when a player moves on it opens up further opportunities for others, we have some talented young hookers in our pathway at the moment and this opportunity only presents greater exposure for them."
