Tributes have been paid to Rhyl RNLI volunteer crew member Kyle Simpson following his sudden passing.
Kyle had recently joined the lifeboat station as part of the latest intake of volunteer crew members and had been making excellent progress with his training.
The RNLI said Kyle had shown a real eagerness to learn and had already played an important role as a shore crew member during a number of service calls.
Although he had only been part of the team for a few months, Kyle quickly became a much-loved member of the Rhyl lifeboat family, with colleagues describing his cheeky personality and infectious laugh as something that would be greatly missed.
The station said Kyle had gone above and beyond what was expected of a new volunteer, regularly giving his time to help maintain the lifeboat station and its equipment.
He also embraced the wider crew community, taking part in fitness sessions and social events with fellow volunteers.
A statement from Rhyl RNLI said: “We will greatly miss Kyle and his infectious laugh. We know he would have been a fantastic crewmember who was already incredibly proud to be part of the team, and as a station, we were very proud to have him.”
The lifeboat station and memorial flags have been lowered to half mast in Kyle’s memory.
The RNLI said its thoughts are with Kyle’s family and friends at what it described as an incredibly difficult time.
