Post Offices on hand to help as Bay's Lloyds Bank closes

March 23, 2021 - 1351 views

As Lloyds Bank closes in Colwyn Bay, local Post Office branches have reminded customers that they will still be on hand to help.

On 31st March, the branch at 27 Conway Road, Colwyn Bay is due to close.

This will doubtless be disappointing to Lloyd’s customers in Colwyn Bay. However, alternative banking provision is available to local residents at Post Office branches nearby.

The nearest Post Offices to the closing Lloyds bank are:

Colwyn Bay Post Office, 8 Station Road LL29 8BU.
Conway Road Post Office, 103 Conway Road LL29 7LW.
Colwyn Heights Post Office, Wentworth Avenue, Colwyn Heights LL29 6DD.

Each of these branches offers banking services - including deposits, free cash withdrawals and balance checks, as well as offering face-to-face access to government services, bill payment, foreign currency, travel insurance and, of course, postal services.

There are currently 2,000 free-to-use ATMs installed across the UK post office network also.

Post offices are proving vital to retaining people’s and business’s access to cash as the banks continue to desert the high street.

Ruth Buckley-Salmon from the National Federation of Postmasters (NFSP) said; "Post offices need to be protected as a key means for accessing cash, and legislation is required to ensure this.

"As such, the NFSP have worked closely with Duncan Baker MP on the “Banking Services Bill”, which was presented to Parliament on 2nd March. The Bill requests that legislation be introduced to protect banking services via the PO network.

"Every Post Office plays a vital role within the heart of the local community as they provide a reliable and essential service, which has continued at a high standard across the whole of the UK throughout the pandemic."
