Police investigating a fatal collision on the Great Orme in Llandudno are appealing for the driver of a black car to come forward.

North Wales Police said the vehicle, possibly a Ford Fiesta, was believed to have been in the area at the time of the collision on Thursday night.

Officers said the car travelled along Mostyn Street and into North Parade before heading towards the Great Orme at around 10.26pm.

The appeal follows a collision involving a black motorcycle on Marine Drive, around a mile from the Toll House in the direction of the Great Orme summit.

Police received the report at 10.31pm. The male motorcyclist entered the sea below the Great Orme following the collision.

A multi-agency response involving North Wales Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI was launched. The casualty was recovered from the water and airlifted by Coastguard helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, where he was later pronounced dead.

His next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified.

Sergeant Alun Jones said police were keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was travelling or walking along Marine Drive on Thursday evening.

Officers are particularly appealing for dashcam footage from anyone travelling from the Toll House towards the Great Orme summit between 10pm and 10.30pm.

Anyone with information, including the driver of the black vehicle, is asked to contact North Wales Police via its website webchat service or by calling 101, quoting reference 26000888717.
