Outstanding local businesses reach “Rural Oscars” final

Leader of the Welsh Conservatives and Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is encouraging people to vote for two businesses in his constituency after they made it to the finals of the Countryside Alliance Awards in Wales.

The annual Awards, often known as the "Rural Oscars," celebrate rural businesses, communities, and individuals who make significant contributions to the countryside and are prestigious to win.

Both Kinmel Bay Post Office and Gwalia House Butchers in Abergele have been selected as finalists in Wales and Darren is keen to ensure that they get the support they need to win in their categories.

Mr. Millar said: “The “Rural Oscars” run across the whole of the United Kingdom, and recognise and reward rural businesses and individuals who go above and beyond in their contributions to the community in five categories.

“Both Gwalia House and Kinmel Bay Post Office certainly do that and I am thrilled to see them both in the finals in Wales.

“They each provide an outstanding service to the communities they serve, always going above and beyond, so the fact that they have got this far comes as no surprise to me.

“Voting is now open and will close at midnight on Monday 15 March. I encourage people to support both Gwalia House and Kinmel Bay Post Office and help them get the recognition they rightly deserve.”

Alongside public voting, the Countryside Alliance Awards judging panel will also weigh in, based on finalist responses.

The Welsh winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Senedd in June, and will then go on to represent Wales at the prestigious national Champions’ Reception at the House of Lords in July, where the UK winners in each category will be crowned and presented with the coveted ‘Rural Oscar’.
