North Wales Police has been placed among the top-performing forces in England and Wales after being awarded the highest status under a new national police performance framework.
The force has received Level 1 status under the Police Performance System, recently introduced by the Home Office to assess the performance of all police forces across England and Wales.
The framework places forces into one of four performance levels, with the grading reflecting current performance, the level of support required, and the degree of national oversight needed.
Level 1 is the highest possible rating and recognises forces that are performing strongly, placing North Wales Police in the top-performing group nationally.
Commenting on the assessment, Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman KPM said the achievement reflected the commitment and hard work of officers, staff and volunteers across the force.
She said: “This is very positive news, and is reflective of the ongoing hard work and dedication of our officers, staff and volunteers who strive day in and day out to provide the highest quality of service to our communities.
“While it is pleasing to receive this assessment, we know there is always more to do. We remain focused on providing the best possible service to our communities, supporting victims and preventing crime, while continuing to improve in everything we do to make North Wales the safest place to live, work and visit in the UK.”
North Wales Police said the rating recognises the efforts of everyone within the organisation, while acknowledging the continued focus needed on improving services and protecting communities across the region.
