Betsi Cadwaladr, the regional health board has updated on the progress that has been made at getting vaccinations out to North Wales residents.

As of yesterday, more than 100,000 people have now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with a further 316,887 people receiving a first dose of the vaccine.

The news was broken by Chris Stockport, Executive Director of Primary and Community Care who praised the efforts of NHS staff. However he highlighted shortage of the vaccine into April.

"Because of significant delays to the UK’s COVID vaccine supply, we will receive less vaccine in April than we had originally planned for.

"Despite this setback, we still remain on course to meet the Welsh Government’s target of offering a first dose of the vaccine to everyone in Priority Groups 1-9 by April 19th, and to the rest of the population by the end of July, subject to there being no further interruption to our vaccine supply.

"I would like to thank people across the region for their patience and understanding as we work through these supply challenges. Please be assured that we are working as quickly as we can with the supply we have.

"If you’re in Priority Groups 6-9 and you’ve not yet received an appointment, please don’t yet contact your GP or our COVID-19 Vaccination Contact Centre – you will be contacted when it is your turn. You won’t be waiting too much longer now."
