Rygbi Gogledd Cymru, or RGC as its known locally, has announced Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices as its charity of the year for the 2026/27 season.
North Wales’ regional rugby side will support the charity through a series of fundraising and community initiatives, including donating a percentage of ticket sales, sponsored events, player involvement and a special match shirt.
The club will also sponsor the hospices’ Midnight Pyjama Walk in September, with Stadiwm Eirias in Colwyn Bay providing the starting point.
RGC General Manager Alun Pritchard said the club was proud to support the hospices and the work they do for children living with life-threatening conditions and their families across North Wales.
Tŷ Gobaith fundraiser Courtney Harris said RGC was “more than just a team” and played an important role in its community.
Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith provide specialist nursing care and support to more than 750 children and their families across North and Mid Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire. The charity says it costs around £10 million a year to run its services, with only around two months’ income coming from statutory sources.
RGC is North Wales’ regional rugby team and plays its home matches at Stadiwm Eirias in Colwyn Bay. The club brings together players from across the region and competes at the highest level of domestic rugby in Wales.
The 2026/27 season will see RGC continue to represent North Wales on the field, while strengthening its role in the wider community through partnerships such as its new relationship with Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith.
RGC’s Super Rygbi Cymru league campaign begins on Saturday, September 12, away to Newport. They then have a home opener against Carmarthen Quins at Stadiwm Eirias on September 19, followed by away games at Ebbw Vale and Pontypool.
