A man has been jailed for two years and six months after police discovered cocaine worth up to £30,000 in the boot of his car on the A55 at Bangor.

Lee Hope, 38, of Lyme Cross Road, Huyton, was stopped by officers on 21 August after police received information that a vehicle was travelling from Merseyside towards North Wales with the intention of bringing drugs into the area.

Hope, who was driving the car, was arrested after officers stopped the vehicle on the A55.

A large quantity of cocaine was found in the boot, with an estimated street value of up to £30,000.

Hope later admitted possession of cocaine with intent to supply. He appeared for sentencing at Mold Crown Court on 25 September, where he was jailed for two years and six months.

PC Scott Jones said police would continue to pursue those attempting to bring illegal drugs into North Wales and act on information received from the community.

He said drug supply caused significant harm to vulnerable people, with criminals involved motivated by financial gain.

Anyone with information about drug-related activity in their area is urged to contact North Wales Police or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
