Young people from across the area recently enjoyed the opportunity to gain digital skills thanks to a successful partnership between two well known local organisations.

The YouTube Creators Academy, an initiative organized by Together for Colwyn Bay and hosted by Tape Music and Film, concluded on August 22nd at Colwyn Bay Library.

The four-week course, successfully introduced young people aged 11-16 years old to the world of creating and uploading YouTube content, boosting digital skills, and encouraging creative enterprise.

Under the guidance of experts from Tape Music and Film, participants enthusiastically delved into the art of planning and researching engaging content, shooting and editing footage, and creating captivating thumbnails to leave a lasting impact on their viewers.

An essential aspect of the course was the active involvement of the participants in shooting all the featured footage, truly reflecting their creative vision.

"We are thrilled to witness the talent and passion exhibited by these young creators throughout the course," said Tim Taylor, Volunteer, and project organiser at Together for Colwyn Bay. "The YouTube Creators Academy not only provided a platform for honing digital skills but also empowered these young minds to express their creativity fearlessly."

The highlight of the YouTube Creators Academy was the collective effort of the participants to create a remarkable 'Colwyn Bay Top 4' video. The 'Colwyn Bay Top 4' video was premiered at Tape Community Music and Film, marking its official debut on Tuesday, September 12th.

Additionally, it will be made available on Youtube for viewers worldwide to appreciate the creativity and unique perspectives of young people from Colwyn Bay.

The YouTube Creators Academy would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Gwynt y Mor for their generous support through their Micro Grants scheme, which played a pivotal role in making this course a resounding success.

As the participants graduate from the YouTube Creators Academy, they take with them newfound digital skills, creative confidence, and an enriched understanding of content creation in the digital age. The course has ignited a spark of creativity in these young creators, setting them on a path to share their unique perspectives with the world.
