Conwy's deputy leader Louise Emery has publically thanked all the organisations that submitted applications for the UK Community Renewal Fund, a scheme set up to help regenerate the country after the impacts of covid and lockdown.

"It has been fantastic to see so many exciting and ambitious projects", said Ms. Emery, who's role also encompasses tourism and leisure in Conwy..

"We received 31 applications totalling £8.7 million. The applications have been scored, in line with UK Government guidance, and a submission made for further scrutiny of projects by UK Government.

"The maximum award that any Local Authority will be given is £3 million but this amount is not guaranteed and we expect the process for the whole of the UK to be highly competitive.

"The UK Government announcement regarding successful bids is expected to be made in late July. At that stage, Conwy County Borough Council will write to all applicants with feedback, including information on potential alternative sources of funding, if applicable, for any unsuccessful projects."
