Art and Design students at Coleg Llandrillo's Rhos-on-Sea campus are celebrating after their artistic talents have been showcased in a window display at a branch of a multi-award-winning estate agent.

A commercial project brief was given to the Foundation Studies in Art and Design students to create a panel of illustrations for a Williams Estates' LED light-pocket window display in its Ruthin branch on the theme of 'Home Is Where the Heart Is', with a Covid-19 twist if possible.

The Foundation Studies' department at Coleg Llandrillo has been working in partnership with the estate agency for over 15 years and have produced many window displays over that time.

This year's commercial project was deemed so impressive that it has been entered in the 'Paris Design Awards 2021' competition with the winners will be announced this spring.

Jason Williams, proprietor of Williams Estates, commented: "The Foundation students have captured the project message to great effect. It's a snapshot record of today's world. A combination of digital and traditional techniques of drawing were used."

The group's tutor Dewi Owen Hughes added: "It is a worthwhile experience for our Foundation students to see their creative work in a commercial setting and a quality addition for their portfolios ahead of university interviews and the world of employment.

"As a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers, I fully support such links with industry, as I believe that realistic work projects greatly enhance the experiences and future employability of our students. The students have gained so much added-value to their studies by working on a real job."
