More than 50 children and their families came together for a Halloween celebration in Llandudno, as a community event brought local residents together for an afternoon of games, music and seasonal fun.
The Halloween Party was held at the Trinity Centre on Trinity Avenue on October 31 and was organised as part of the Pride in Place programme covering the Tudno and Mostyn wards.
Youngsters arrived in a variety of costumes as the centre was transformed into a family-friendly Halloween venue, with decorations, activities and entertainment for children of different ages.
The Mayor of Llandudno, Cllr Mandy Hawkins, was also on hand to judge the fancy dress competition, which included three age categories.
Organisers from the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board and local volunteers arranged the event, which was designed not only to provide a safe and welcoming celebration for families but also to give residents an opportunity to have their say about the future of their community.
The Pride in Place programme is backed by UK Government funding, with Conwy allocated up to £20 million over ten years for projects shaped by local priorities.
Deputy Chair of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board, Jayne Black, said it had been “wonderful” to see so many local families taking part.
“Events like this help bring people together, create lasting memories for children and strengthen community spirit,” she said.
“We’re especially grateful to Cllr Carol Marubbi and the Trinity Centre team for their support in hosting the event and to the Mayor, Cllr Mandy Hawkins, for judging the fancy dress competition.
“Events like this are fun for all involved, but are also important as a means of speaking to local people and asking what changes they want to see as plans progress as part of the Pride in Place initiative.”
Bangor Aberconwy MP Claire Hughes said the programme was about giving local people an opportunity to help shape the direction of their community.
She said it was encouraging to see families in Tudno and Mostyn engaging with the Neighbourhood Board and thanked the volunteers who helped make the event possible.
The programme aims to support projects identified by residents as priorities, with a focus on improving quality of life, wellbeing and opportunities for local people.
