Llandudno’s inshore lifeboat was launched earlier today after reports of a person and their dog trapped among rocks east of Porth Eirias.

With the tide rising quickly, the volunteer crew launched and headed towards the location off the coast at Colwyn Bay.

The alarm was raised after it was reported that the individual was stranded among rocks to the east of the beach, with the tide coming in quickly.

The lifeboat crew launched promptly and headed at speed towards the location. However, when they were around halfway between the station and the scene, they were stood down after confirmation that the person had managed to reach safety.

Helm Luke Heritage said the crew had been concerned about the person’s position due to the rapidly rising tide.

“With the tide rising quickly there was obvious concern for the casualty’s position among the rocks, so our volunteer crew launched promptly to assist,” he said.

“Fortunately the person was able to reach safety before we arrived.”

He added that rocky sections of coastline can be dangerous, particularly when tides are changing.

“Rocky areas around the coast can be unpredictable, so we would always encourage people to take extra care when moving around them and to be aware of the incoming tide.”

The incident highlights the importance of checking tide times and taking care when exploring rocky coastal areas, particularly along the North Wales coast where tides can rise quickly.
