Grŵp Llandrillo Menai - in partnership with Bangor University - has announced the launch of a brand new degree in professional policing.

The course will introduce students at the college's Rhos-on-Sea campus to the skills required to work as a police officer, and builds on the already highly successful Foundation Degree in Policing offered by the college group.

This term's policing inductees are the first cohort to have the opportunity study on the new BA (Hons) Professional Policing degree, which is licensed by the College of Policing.

The exciting new degree provides students with a strong understanding of policing through a combination of theoretical and practical scenarios.

Throughout the course, students will gain a unique and innovative insight into the world of policing, while ensuring that they develop a significant body of knowledge and practice during the three years of study.

It will also allow them to consider crime and society from a range of subject experts who can discuss the wider perspectives. The degree provides students with the academic entry requirement via the pre-join degree route.

Michelle McBreeze, programme leader for the college's degrees in Policing, said; "I am immensely proud of this substantial contribution to policing, and the partnership that exists between Grŵp Llandrillo Menai and North Wales Police.

"The training that these students will receive will ensure that they will be given the tools to cope with the advances in crime and challenges that face today's police officers. The qualification gained will put these students in a strong position to gain employment as police officers in the future."
