The Welsh and Scottish Governments have agreed a new deal aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
First Minister of Wales Rhun ap Iorwerth and Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney signed the Cytundeb Caerdydd – Cardiff Agreement today.
The agreement sets out areas where the two governments plan to work more closely, including tackling child poverty, the cost of living, economic growth and climate change.
It also covers financial arrangements, international engagement including relations with the European Union, as well as language, culture, media and sport.
Rhun ap Iorwerth said the agreement would help strengthen devolved government and improve outcomes for people in Wales and Scotland.
He also said the two governments shared a belief that people in Wales and Scotland should be able to decide their own constitutional futures.
John Swinney said the agreement marked an important moment in the history of devolution and would allow the two governments to learn from each other while continuing to take different approaches where necessary.
Both First Ministers also used the occasion to argue that Wales and Scotland should have greater control over their constitutional futures.
