Glan Conwy zebra crossing work begins Monday

Work to make the recently built zebra crossing on the main road through Glan Conwy safer will begin from Monday February 22nd.

After the crosssing was completed on the busy A470 a number of months ago, many villagers were concerned that motorists were approaching the crossing at speed, unaware of the new road layout.

Parked cars and visibility on the approach to the crossing was said to be making the problem worse and Aberconwy MS Janet Finch-Saunders worked alongside highway planners and Welsh Government to make the changes neccessary.

Enhancements will begin next Monday and will include extending surfacing of the footway on the east side to the property known as ‘Benarth’, additional road markings including a high friction surfacing on the approach to the crossing and work on kerbing.

This work is being done on behalf of the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency. Work is expected to finish by Friday March 12th.
