A North Wales Police operation targeting food delivery drivers has uncovered a number of road traffic offences, including nine drivers found to be without insurance.

Officers from Rota 2 carried out proactive enforcement activity on Friday night following concerns about a rise in incidents involving uninsured drivers and vehicles being used in dangerous conditions.

During the operation, around 40 vehicles were stopped and checked across the region, with officers identifying a number of offences linked to road safety.

Nine drivers were reported for having no insurance, while seven vehicles were seized.

Other offences identified included driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to wear a seatbelt and contravening a no entry sign.

A man was also arrested during the operation after being found to be wanted on warrant.

North Wales Police said the action was launched following concerns that some food delivery drivers were putting themselves and other road users at risk by failing to have the correct insurance or by using vehicles that did not meet basic safety standards.

The force said the operation forms part of its ongoing commitment to improving road safety and ensuring people using the region’s roads are doing so legally and responsibly.

Officers have reminded drivers that having valid insurance, maintaining their vehicles properly and following road traffic laws are essential to keeping themselves and others safe.
