Firefighters were called to a major fire at Conwy Golf Club on the Morfa in Conwy last night (Saturday 31 October), with residents warned to keep their windows and doors closed because of smoke.

The incident prompted a significant emergency response, with crews attending the scene as flames and smoke were reported in the Morfa area.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service issued an appeal to people living nearby, advising them to keep windows and doors shut while firefighting operations were under way.

Members of the public were also asked to avoid the area to allow emergency services to deal with the incident safely.

The fire attracted attention locally, with images of the blaze circulating on social media and reports of a large fire at Conwy Morfa appearing late on Saturday evening.

Conwy Golf Club is situated on the Morfa overlooking the Conwy Estuary. Established in 1890, it is one of Wales's historic links golf clubs and has hosted a number of major amateur championships.

At this stage, there has been no confirmed information about the extent of the damage, whether anyone was injured or what caused the fire.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been established.

Residents are advised to follow any further instructions from the emergency services and avoid the area while any response or safety checks continue on Sunday.
