The infamous Great Orme Goat is being mischievous again, and this time he is hiding in a new festive game to raise funds for a local adult Hospice.
St David’s Hospice are running a fun competition for everyone to get involved with this festive season – The ‘Find Mostyn the Great Orme Goat’ Christmas Advent Calendar.
It is a simple game, ideal to play with friends, family, groups and work colleagues. The Hospice Fundraising Team will provide all that is needed to play along with the game.
Using an A3 entry sheet, entrants are to select a day from the 24 available on the ‘Advent Calendar’ with the aim to find the Hospice’s iconic Great Orme Goat ‘Mostyn’ hidden behind one of them.
Christmas time is usually a very busy time of year for the charity’s fundraising team, but this year many events have been cancelled including; three Christmas fairs (in Llandudno. Llangefni and Bangor), carol concerts and tree festivals, coffee mornings and festive raffles.
COVID-19 has hit the St David’s Hospice finances hard. The Hospice continues to try and find new ways to raise funds to boost the St David’s Hospice Recovery Fund, which aims to recover £1 million of lost income by the end of 2020.
Conwy Community Fundraiser Adrian Owen explains: “It is so disappointing that this year’s popular St David’s Hospice Christmas Fairs will not be going ahead. They are very popular events and for many, the start of the Christmas season. Last year almost well over a thousand people attended our fairs raising over £9000 for end of life care in North West Wales.
"It is hoped that the festive game will help to recoup some of the money lost at the events.”
The game offers two options to choose, either £2 per guess (the winner will receive a Christmas Goodie Bag) £5 per guess (the winning prize will be a Festive Hamper to include one of the much sought-after Limited Edition Great Orme Goat Toys).
