Family fun as Betsi games return for third year

NHS staff across North Wales are set to get off the blocks next month when the third annual Betsi Games comes to Eirias Park.

The free family fun-day on Saturday July 13th is organised by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to promote healthy living, staff engagement, physical activity and improving the general health of its workforce.

Activities are available for all ages and abilities, including a tug of war, wellie wanging, rounders and a challenging 120ft inflatable obstacle course.

The event is organised by BCUHB graduate managers as part of their time within the Central Area Team.

Robyn Watson, Graduate Manager for Primary and Community Care, said: “We’re hoping our third Betsi Games will be our biggest and best yet.

“More than 150 people attended last year, and we’re hoping to double that number with this year’s event.

“Teams of between eight and 20 can enter, and we want to welcome colleagues from across North Wales to take part in what is a really fun day.

“Teams are made up of staff, friends and families. Children are welcome to attend and almost all the activities will have children only events."

This year, the event organisers are opening entry up to partner organisations too.

Teams from local authorities, community groups and charities are invited to enter their own teams to compete alongside teams of NHS staff across North Wales.

Robyn added “This year we’ll welcome teams from partner organisations to take part as well.

“The Games have been really successful over the last couple of years, and hopefully we can bring more organisations together for what will be a really fun event.”
