RGC secured their first Super Rygbi Cymru victory of the season with an entertaining 36-29 win over Carmarthen Quins at Stadiwm Eirias.
The visitors made the stronger start, scoring from a driving maul after winning a lineout, with Madoc Evans adding the conversion.
RGC responded with growing pressure and were rewarded when Pedr Jones crossed for his first try for the side, converted by Billy McBryde.
The Gogs continued to threaten, with Delwyn Jones making a break during his 100th appearance before Dion Jones eventually found a way through the Quins defence to put RGC ahead.
Carmarthen again showed their strength at the lineout, with another driving maul producing their second try. Evans converted to make it 14-14 at half-time.
The Quins then regained the lead early in the second half when a crossfield kick created an opening for full-back Iori Badham.
McBryde's penalty reduced the deficit to two points before RGC began to take control of the match.
Tudur Jones helped create space with a break from scrum-half, before Danny Cross powered over for RGC's third try. Within a minute, Sam Jones burst through the Quins defence to secure the bonus-point try, with McBryde converting.
RGC then extended their advantage further when Osian Burt emerged with the ball from a powerful driving maul, putting the home side 36-19 ahead.
Carmarthen refused to give up and Callum Woolley scored a late try, converted by Evans. The visitors added a further penalty on the final whistle, earning two bonus points in the process.
But RGC held on for a deserved seven-point victory, with head coach Jon Callard particularly pleased with the way his side responded after the interval.
He said the team's scrum and turnover ball were among the positives, while acknowledging that reducing errors would make RGC a difficult side to beat.
The result gives RGC their first Super Rygbi Cymru win of the campaign and provides an encouraging response as they continue their season at Stadiwm Eirias.
