A man remains in police custody after officers arrested a driver following a dangerous pursuit in the Conwy area.
Officers from North Wales Police said a grey Audi A5 was identified in the West Conwy Coastal area being driven without insurance, MOT or tax.
Police located the vehicle in the Conwy area last night, but officers say the driver sped away after spotting the patrol car.
According to police, the vehicle was driven at speed, ignored one-way road signs and placed members of the public at “significant risk of harm”.
Officers said members of the public helped direct police towards the vehicle, which was later located while the driver and passenger were allegedly attempting to evade officers.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, driving whilst unfit through drink, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without insurance or MOT offences.
He remains in police custody.
In a statement, North Wales Police thanked members of the public who assisted officers during the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We thank the members of the public who assisted us and we always ask that you report incidents to us.
“We will not tolerate dangerous driving or impaired driving on our roads and will continue to target those who continue to do so.”
