A disqualified driver who was caught travelling at more than 100mph on the A55 in North Wales has been jailed after appearing in court just hours later.
Ashley William Trevorrow, 29, of Nant Y Glyn Avenue, Colwyn Bay, was stopped by North Wales Police on Friday morning after an officer witnessed him driving at speeds exceeding 100mph on the A55 before bringing the vehicle to a stop in Llanddulas.
Checks revealed Trevorrow was already disqualified from driving until 2030.
He was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and exceeding the 70mph speed limit.
Trevorrow appeared before Llandudno Magistrates’ Court later the same day, where he was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.
The court also imposed a further 63-month driving disqualification, extending the period he is banned from getting behind the wheel, and ordered him to pay court costs.
Following the case, North Wales Police issued a strong warning to motorists who choose to ignore the law.
A spokesperson said: “We will not tolerate dangerous driving on our roads. We will continue to actively target those who have a disregard for the law and pose a risk to the public.”
The force said officers remain committed to tackling dangerous driving offences across North Wales to help keep the region’s roads safe.
