Dispersal Order brings calm weekend to Llandudno

Police say a weekend dispersal order in Llandudno has helped prevent anti-social behaviour, with no major incidents reported.

North Wales Police confirmed the order was put in place to tackle concerns around disorder, and officers say it proved effective, with several youths complying when directed to leave the area.

During patrols, officers also located a man wanted for breaching a Domestic Abuse Protection Order. He was remanded and later given an eight-week suspended sentence. However, police say he has since been returned to custody following a further breach and is due to appear before the courts again.

In a separate incident, a youth has been charged with a number of offences in the town, including three counts of burglary from commercial premises, shoplifting goods worth nearly £300, being found on enclosed premises, and going equipped to steal. Due to legal restrictions, the individual cannot be named and will also appear before the courts.

Temporary Inspector Jamie Thorp said the force will continue to maintain a strong presence in the area.

He said: “Following a successful weekend, local officers will continue both high visibility and plain clothed patrols around the area.

“I expect more arrests will be made, as we will be taking a zero tolerance approach towards anyone who threatens the safety of our community.”

Police say patrols will remain in place as part of ongoing efforts to keep residents and visitors safe.
