Denbighshire Council blasted for failing to apply for eco cash

A local MS has expressed disapointment that a North Wales council has missed out on thousands of pounds in grant funding for electric vehicle charging infrastructure after failing to apply to the Welsh Government.

That's despite other local authorities in North Wales receiving significant sums for their projects.

Conservative MS Darren Millar expressed disappointment and concern at the Denbighshire County Council oversight.

He claims the missed opportunity highlights a disconnect in the council's awareness and priorities regarding eco-friendly grants.

Mr. Millar said: “It is disappointing and concerning that whilst all the other local authorities in North Wales were successful in applying for these substantial grants, Denbighshire County Council didn’t even bother to submit an application.

“We are constantly being told by the Chief Executive and Leader that they are struggling financially, yet they let this fantastic opportunity pass them by.

“I am sure tax-payers in the county will be as annoyed as I am that they have missed out on thousands and will want to know why an application wasn’t submitted.

“At a time when every penny counts, overlooking this opportunity is a disservice to local residents.”
