Colwyn Bay will head into the end-of-season play-offs with momentum after a hard-earned 1-1 draw away to Connah’s Quay Nomads secured a home semi-final against Penybont.
A coolly taken penalty from Jamie Cumming ensured the Seagulls finished their league campaign on a positive note, with the decisive play-off clash set for next Saturday (April 25) at the Blue Turtle Arena. The match will be broadcast live on Sgorio, kicking off at 12:45pm.
Bay adopted a disciplined approach in the first half, sitting deep and looking to counter. Chances were limited but promising — Alex Moore saw an effort blocked from the edge of the area, while Kit Margetson produced an excellent save to deny Cumming after a driving run from Ethan Roberts.
The hosts broke the deadlock on 35 minutes when Callum West found the net, but the response from Bay was immediate. Just five minutes later, Roberts was brought down in the box, and Cumming stepped up to calmly convert from the spot.
Colwyn Bay looked the stronger side after the break, with substitutes Jordan Davies and Issa Kargbo adding energy in attack. Both had late chances to snatch victory, but their efforts were kept out as the points were shared.
Elsewhere, Barry Town United will face Haverfordwest County in the other semi-final later that day, with kick-off at 5:25pm.
For Colwyn Bay, attention now turns firmly to Penybont — with a European place tantalisingly within reach.
