July 19, 2021 - 774 views

Daily cases of Covid-19 have surpassed the 2,000 mark in Wales according to the latest figures out today.

The Public Health Wales dashboard shows 2,053 cases with 586 of these in North Wales. Sadly there have been 3 new deaths - a total of 5,589 so far.

The breakdown of new cases in North Wales is as follows:

Denbighshire 176, Flintshire 128, Conwy 121, Wrexham 108, Gwynedd 35 and Anglesey 18.

It is expected that a significant increase in cases may well lead to a further rise in hospitalisations and deaths. Health bosses are strongly recommending that people who have had not yet had their vaccinations to quickly come forward.

For those who have not yet recieved their Covid-19 vaccinations, these are available in the Bay of Colwyn at the Coed Pella building on Monday 19th and Monday 26th July from 9.30-7pm.

No appointment is necessary and 6 weeks must have elapsed if you are seeking your second vaccination.

Drop in vaccinations can also be had at Venue Cymru Sunday to Friday from 8.30am - 7.15pm.

For anyone who requires a specific date and time to get vaccinated are please go online and make an online booking https://bcuhb.nhs.wales/covid-19/covid-19-vaccination-information/covid-19-vaccination-online-booking/

In North Wales, the minimum target is to vaccinate 75 per cent of people in each eligible age group with both doses, in order to achieve a level of community protection.

First dose take up is at least 80 per cent in each age group above the age of forty, but take up among people aged 30-39 is currently 70 per cent. More people in this age group are urged to come forward to get the figure to 75 per cent.

Seventy eight per cent of 18-29 year olds have now had a first dose, and although there is more work to do in some communities, take up from younger people in many counties in North Wales is amongst the highest in the UK.
