Council Tax in Conwy for this coming year will increase by 2.95% it has been agreed today.

Members of Conwy County Borough Council have now set and signed off the charge and dudget for 2021/22.

The Leader of the Council, Cllr Sam Rowlands, presented the report to the meeting of the Council.

He said, "The lead up to this 2021/22 budget has been one of the most uncertain times we have ever had to deal with.

“It’s a credit to both officers and councillors that this report sets out a sensible set of proposals, which will provide a balanced budget whilst dealing with some long term problems head on.”

“The Council Tax increase of 2.95% is one of our lowest ever increases, but will allow us to provide the vital services that our residents need.

“This budget does not ask our schools for any budget reductions this year, and it allows us to make an additional £2.2m available to deal with their expected pressures.”

“The past year has been very difficult for many people, and I hope as we start the new financial year we will all see our lives getting back to some sort of normality.”

Councillors supported the recommendation that Conwy County Borough Council’s part of the Band D Council Tax for 2021/22 be £1,383.50.

That’s an increase of £39.64 for the year - equivalent to 76p extra per week. The council said that this is one of the lowest increases in Wales.
