Conwy parents urged to apply for free school transport

Parents across Conwy County are being reminded to apply for free home-to-school transport if their child is starting primary or secondary school this September.

Conwy County Borough Council says eligible families could qualify for free transport to and from school, depending on the distance between their home and their nearest or catchment school.

Children starting full-time primary school may qualify if they live two miles or more from their nearest suitable or catchment school.

Pupils currently in Year 6 and moving up to secondary school in September may be eligible if they live three miles or more from their nearest suitable or catchment school.

The council says free transport may also be available for young people aged between five and 19 attending their nearest suitable school or college under the same distance criteria.

Parents are being reminded that transport is only provided to and from the child’s registered home address. Services cannot be arranged for breakfast clubs, after-school clubs, childcare settings or parents’ workplaces.

Families with more than one child must complete a separate application for each pupil.

Further details and applications can be made through the My Conwy school transport page.

The reminder comes as many families across Conwy prepare for the transition to new schools ahead of the September term.
