Conwy Council hits out at costly roundabout vandalism

Conwy County Borough Council has criticised vandals for painting an English flag on a mini-roundabout in Llandudno, calling it graffiti.

The flag, depicting the St George's Cross, has sparked controversy with some linking it to racism and division.

The council stated that removing the flag on Maesdu Road will cost money. Similar flags have appeared in English towns and cities during August, many attached to lampposts.

A statement from the council said: "Unauthorised painting or graffiti to the road surface is illegal and will be removed. The red paint has been removed and the island will be repainted shortly.

"This vandalism costs public money to repair and will cause disruption to road users while we clean it up."
