March 11, 2020 - 1982 views

Residents from right across the Bay of Colwyn area are being invited to take part in an exciting new project which aims to capture our wonderful heritage and history in a brand new way.

Augmented Reality is an interactive experience that takes images and video from today and superimposes computer generated images from the past and other graphics, to create a wonderful learning experience.

From this Friday (March 13), Old Colwyn based Tape Community Music and Film will be hosting the first of the billigual workshops to introduce the community to the project and explain what it sets out to do. The workshops will take place at Colwyn Bay library.

The augmented reality heritage trail, which will cover Old Colwyn, Colwyn Bay, Rhos on Sea and Mochdre will be created by some of the country's top digital producers with lots of creative input, suggestions and ideas from the people living in the area.

The aim is to develop a high-tech App which will broaden the appeal of existing heritage trails to a whole new audience including local people and the many visitors who come into the area. It is expected that this will be launched early next year.

No experience is needed but the team is hoping that those who take part can commit to the project for 4 weeks.

As the free workshops are expected to capture the imagination and excitement from many local people booking is essential and can be done by visiting this link.

The project is part of the Imagine Colwyn Bay initiative which aims to promote heritage, creative arts and community collaboration from across the Bay of Colwyn, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Conwy County Borough Council and Colwyn Town Council.
